Attended Cremation

The Simple, Traditional and Select plans are all regarded as a more traditional type of funeral where there is often a service which may be carried out by a minister or officiant, with family and friends in attendance for the duration of the funeral. These types of funerals provide family and friends with the opportunity to say their goodbyes and share fond memories of loved ones with those closest to them.

Local collection of the deceased from the place of death and their conveyance to the funeral director's premises during normal working hours
Care of the deceased prior to funeral
Supplying of a coffin suitable for burial or cremation
a basic coffin
Crematorium booking at a non peak time
Attended service
Small informal service at the crematorium or funeral directors premises
Provision of hearse to convey the deceased directly to the funeral location
Provision of a vehicle to convey the deceased directly to the crematorium
Provision of mourner’s limousine (typically seats 6)
Provision of sufficient bearers as required
Provision of funeral conductor
The cortege leaving from a local address, travelling to the funeral service and returning afterwards
Professional advice on certification, registration and all the required legal documentation
Contribution towards third party costs, such as crematorium
Provision of Chapel of Rest facilities for viewing of the deceased prior to the funeral and/or service rooms where available
The Funeral Director's fees in arranging and conducting the funeral

Collection of floral tribute cards or if preferred, a listing of those who have sent flowers
Advice and help for the purpose of producing Order of Service and/or Hymn sheets (printing not included)

Payment Options

We offer a range of ways to pay for your Open Prepaid Funeral Plan. You can choose to pay in full with a by single payment, spread the cost over 12 months at no extra cost, or spread the cost across 24 to 60 months with our instalment payment option.

You can make a one-off single payment of £1,727 for immediate cover.

Option 2: 12 monthly payment option

You can make a one-off deposit of £325 followed by 12 monthly payments of £116.83 at no extra charge. You will be covered once all payments have been made.

Option 3: Instalment payment option

For lower monthly payments, you can make a one-off deposit of £325 then spread the cost between 24 to 60 months. This includes an instalment charge based on the term length you choose which is allocated to the value of your plan. We do not make a profit from your payments.

Prepaid Funeral Plan FAQs

It's natural to have questions before taking out a prepaid funeral plan. Here are some of the most common questions we get asked but you can visit our FAQs page for a more comprehensive list, or you can contact us if your question isn't answered here.

We had always encouraged our plan holders to take out an Open funeral plan directly with their preferred funeral director. Under FCA regulation though this makes the process of taking out a plan more complex and requires extensive training. We have decided to operate an Introducer only model where, if you contact your preferred funeral director yourself they will actually refer you to us if they are an Open Introducer Appointed Representative (IAR). If they are not an Open IAR then you can still take a plan out with Open and we can nominate the funeral director to your plan, speak to us for more details. This way, you still get what you want at the price you should be paying. Open plans are all fair value tested and many are specifically priced to our IAR businesses all of which means you get fairly priced funeral plans with Open. There are a number of ways:

  • You can pay securely online through this website
  • You can pay by card, cheque or bank transfer
  • You can pay over a number of months, interest free over 12 months or 24, 36, 48 or 60 months by direct debit. Charges are added for instalment payments over 12 months which are equivalent to an APR of 5.9% and are added to the value of your plan. An additional monthly charge on the 24 to 60 month plans is included to provide full plan payment protection during the longer instalment periods.

Payments must be from a UK bank account. This includes card payments. We do not accept payment by American Express.

The Open Plan is designed to be as personal to you as you wish; choose one of the standard prepaid funeral plans and personalise that with your own preferences including readings, songs, hymns, flowers, donations to charity and more. We can also help you to create a completely unique plan to you either directly with us or through a local funeral director. Just get in touch with us for more details.

Yes, you can cancel your Plan at any time by contacting us in writing. If you would like to discuss your options first, you are also welcome to get in touch with our team.

If you cancel your Plan within 30 days of it starting, or within 7 days of nominating a Funeral Director, you will receive a full refund.

If you cancel after 30 days, we will refund the payments you have made minus the original administration fee.

If you are paying by instalments and cancel after 30 days, you will receive a refund of the instalments you have paid less the administration fee.

Once we receive your notice of cancellation, any refund due will be issued within 30 days.

Please note that once the Funeral Plan has been redeemed, it can no longer be cancelled. Cancelling your Plan will end the agreement and the Terms of the Plan will no longer apply.
